Soil Studies
In Geo Costa Rica we work with several methods of field testing for the preparation of soil studies according to the requirements, to our customers, from the DPL (Dinamic Probing Light), SPT (Standard Penetration Test), geophysical methods and even exploratory drilling with core recovery.
Field tests are fundamental in the field of geotechnics or soil mechanics since they provide us information on the mechanical, hydraulic and engineering properties of the subsoil and the geological environment, offering indispensable data for the design of foundations for structures and civil works as well to determine the environmental impact and prevent geological risks.
Standard Penetration Test(SPT)
SPT
It allows to determine the most important geotechnical parameters for the characterization of soils
Important for the calculation of the load capacity of surface foundations
Dinamic Probing Light(DPL)
DPL
Allows jobs in hard-to-reach places
Important for the calculation of the load capacity of surface foundations
Geophysical Methods
Geophysical Methods
Allows to infer the geological structure of the subsoil
It allows to determine the discontinuity between the different layers of the subsoil
Exploratory drilling with core recovery
Exploratory drilling with core recovery
Perforation that allows to recover samples from the subsoil
Important to determine the stratigraphy of the subsoil
The techniques mentioned abow allow us to thoroughly analyze the subsoil and its characteristics, allowing to give correct recommendations for the design of superficial foundations (footings and slabs), semi-deep foundations (slabs and caissons) and deep foundations (piles), as well as to analyze the geological mean and the possible impact of a certain activity on aquifers or natural phenomena such as landslides, subsidence of earth, mud flows and rockfall.
