General Hydrogeological Report – SENARA

The General Hydrogeological Report is a technical assessment issued by the National Service of Subterranean Waters, Irrigation and Drainage (SENARA), based on the existing hydrogeological information recorded in its technical system. According to SENARA, this report consists of a “general consultation and analysis of the hydrogeological information available in the area where the project will be developed.” Its purpose is to determine the aquifer and terrain conditions without requiring new field studies.

Who Requires a General Hydrogeological Report?

This procedure is ideal for projects located in areas where official hydrogeological data or previous studies approved by SENARA already exist. It allows obtaining a valid technical opinion without incurring the cost of a detailed study.

Real Estate Developers

Urbanizations, condominiums, and projects located in areas with registered wells or previous studies.

Companies and Industries

Projects that require water supply assessment or vulnerability analysis in areas with existing data.

Municipalities and Consultants

Processing of permits or technical validation of zoning plans and public projects.

SENARA Requirements and Criteria

According to its Terms of Reference, SENARA establishes that hydrogeological reports must meet minimum technical criteria, and depending on the complexity of the area, an expanded study may be required. The General Hydrogeological Report is based on information available in SENARA’s institutional database, hydrogeological maps, well records, and previously approved studies.

  • Based on official information stored by SENARA.
  • Does not require new drilling or pumping tests.
  • Issued as a nationally valid technical opinion.
  • May be a prerequisite for environmental feasibility (SETENA).
