Procedures at SENARA


The National Service of Groundwater, Irrigation and Drainage (SENARA), created by Law N ° 6877 of July 18, 1983, is a strategic institution of managing water resources in the country.

The Directorate of Water Research and Management (DIGH) of SENARA's mission are the research, control, monitoring and promotion of the integrated management of water resources to prevent their deterioration and minimize the effects of exploitation.

Among the functions of the DIGH is the review of technical pronouncements regarding the drilling and exploitation of wells, springs, hydrogeological studies carried out by users, as well as maintenance policies and protection of ground and surface water.

Geo Costa Rica has experience in the management and monitoring of procedures in the SENARA DIGH, among which are the following:

- General opinion and certifications

- Detailed opinion

- Drilling of wells (consult SENARA)

- Hydrogeological study to opt for the vulnerability change permit.

- General and specific opinions for the evaluation of the generic aquifer protection matrix.
